We were hoping for 2021 to be the year that things go back to normal – that we could leave our masks at home, give our friends a hug and start attending events again. It was when President Ramaphosa delivered the somber announcement that the second wave of COVID infections was passing through South Africa that we all started to realise that this wouldn’t be the case. Now seems like a great time to do a refresher course!

Keep It Up

Experts have identified behaviour called “pandemic fatigue”, where you’ve kept your guard up for so long that you simply get tired of following the protocols. Please don’t! The simplest actions, like wearing a mask in public and washing or sanitising one’s hands are as important now as they were last year. If anything, we’re in a better position now – there’s a ready supply of sanitiser, and businesses, like our hotels, are well-equipped to make sure everyone on their premises is safe.

Be Smart

Technology has been an incredible help during this time. Online delivery, remote working and video calls are just some of the adaptions we’ve gotten used to and we celebrate how they’ve made our day-to-day lives safer. At City Lodge Hotel Group, we took on that challenge as well and we were proud to upgrade our CLHG app to include contactless ways to interact with us during your stay. We’ve been pretty close to reading minds already, this was just the next step!

These efforts were to further limit the chances of coming into contact with the virus, pairing well with our stringent cleaning protocols that took our already high cleanliness standards to the next level. The app now offers you convenience as well as safety.

We all deserved that December break, and we sincerely hope you made the most of it. It was a good reminder that taking a break is good for our mental health and – when a large amount of us have been working from home – taking that break away from your house makes it even better.

We know, in the midst of the pandemic, it can be daunting to leave the house. What we’re saying is that if you do need to, whether for work or for leisure, we’d encourage you to stay with us where we take your safety as seriously as you do!

We have some great opportunities for you to get out the house and stretch your legs a bit:

  • First and foremost, celebrate love by bringing bae to a Valentine’s Day spoil! Selected hotels are offering a great deal on stays on Saturday the 13th of February that includes a romantic meal.
  • Secondly, weekends are for living! When some hotels may be charging you more to stay over the weekend, we’re helping you save! Our WKND Special is geared specifically to people who are just needing a break from their house and want a little bit of R&R.
  • Thirdly, don’t forget about WOZA Friday! Most Fridays are fun, but the last Friday of every month gets extra festive where, between midnight and midnight, any bookings made qualify for a large discount! These apply to any bookings you make, they just need to be made on that Friday – starting as low as R665 per room!
  • Finally, should you be needing a working area that’s a bit more professional and a bit less, well, homely, then #YourPrivateOffice is for you! You get one private room for the day, which can include two meals. Peace, quiet, and productivity!
