2020 was a whole different kind of year. The less said about it the better. So, as we leave it behind and look ahead to what 2021 holds, now is a great time to share some tips about getting the year started right!

Lighten Your Load

A scientist once said that the clutter on one’s desk is directly proportionate to the clutter in one’s mind. We may have made that up, but it feels just about right to make a statement like that. When we’re stressed, even the neatest person lets a bit of clutter build up because their mind is focusing on all of the other million demands.

Before the year picks up its pace again, now is the perfect opportunity to do some cleaning and get things back where they used to be. This doesn’t even need to be physical clutter either, sometimes an overflowing inbox or an overpopulated desktop can have the same effect. Create some room for productivity by clearing out the clutter.

Change Your Space

Think back to when you first realized you were going to work from home. We had to make some important decisions in a very short space of time – things like where we’ll sit, how we’ll arrange the room, and where things get plugged in. We never really thought much about those decisions thereafter, but your achy back, stiff neck, and sore eyes might be asking you to reconsider.

Armed with the experience of what your current space was like to work in, now is the perfect time to shift stuff around, to optimise things, and try new arrangements. If you manage to crack the code on keeping kids out during important meetings, let us know!

Making Technology Work for You

It’s safe to assume you’ve had to learn a new system or two during lockdown, just so that you can carry on working, collaborating and meeting with colleagues and clients. You may have been one of the lucky few who got proper ‘bootcamps’ to introduce you to these new systems, but chances are you had to figure them out on your own.

The thing is, technology is normally more capable than you think. Where you may have learnt the bare necessities to get by, where there could be some life-changing features hidden in another menu or a few clicks away. Even the most tech-savvy could find opportunities for optimising their workflow by evaluating things before the pace of the work coming in picks ups. So, explore a little, watch some tutorial videos and do some research.
