The great migration is one of the largest migrations in the world and one of the most amazing natural spectacles to witness. Organise a safari to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve and have a front row seat to the migration.
Jump for Joy
The local Massai people have their own way of celebrating. One of their traditions is the Adamu, which consists of men jumping as high as they can to show their strength. They make it look easy but take it from us, it’s much more difficult than it looks. You can visit a Massai village and have fun learning this iconic ritual for yourself.
Head in The Clouds
For the more adventurous traveller, there’s the opportunity to climb Africa’s second highest mountain. Mt. Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and stands 5 199m above sea level. Mt. Kenya is also where Kenya got its name from.
Hit the Beach
Kenya has world-famous islands that make for the ideal location to relax and catch a tan. Lamu Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of an archipelago of beautiful islands just waiting for you to explore. If you like white sand, blue water and a bit of adventure, then Kenya should be at the top of your list.
Kenya has been producing some of the world’s best long-distance runners for decades. Most of these amazing athletes come from the Kalenjin tribe who even leave other Kenyans in their dust. Scientists have tried to figure out what makes these people such great runners. Some think it’s because of genetics, diet and living at a high altitude. Whatever the reason, if you’re an aspiring runner you could learn from the best in Kenya.
Beans for Days
As one of the world’s largest coffee producers, Kenya is the perfect place for coffee enthusiasts. The acidic soil, rainfall levels and amount of sunlight found in the Kenyan highlands all add to why coffee grows so well in Kenya. The coffee trade is massive and employs up to 6 million Kenyans. If you’re a coffee lover, be sure to make the pilgrimage to Kenya soon.
