Get Insta-Fabulous This Spring

Has stalking your friend’s Instagram left you feeling a little down in the dumps? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. We all have that gorgeous friend who always seem to get those perfect Instagram shots. Heck, they even look great when they’re covered in beach sand!

So, we’re here to help, because why shouldn’t your Instagram feed be Insta-fabulous, too?

Just a few things before we get started with our tips:

  •         Make sure you have a friend or loved one who is willing to snap 1 hundred and 1 pictures of you, if need be. Nobody gets it perfect in one shot, not even your most fabulous friends.
  •         Now is not the time to be shy. Embrace all your fabulousness and let your fab-flag fly!

Here are our tips for creating Insta-fabulous pictures this spring:

1)      Strike A Pose

If there’s one thing you take away from this article, it’s that striking a pose is important, but what’s more important is looking as if you’re not actually posing. Difficult, we know!

Basically, you need to make your picture look like a candid shot. The easiest way to do this is to forget everything your Mom told you when you were little – don’t smile at the camera. In fact, you should try your very best to look busy, or pretend something else has caught your attention.

Some popular and easy to pull off poses are the I’m-laughing-cause-this-picture-is-taking-forever pose and the I’m-too-busy-to-look-at-the-camera pose.

2)      Got Yo’ Back

Another very popular picture to add to your fabulous account has very little to do with you or your hair, and everything to do with the humblebrag. We’re talking about thelook-how-beautiful-my-view-is shot, also known as the #braggie.

This shot is great for those days you really don’t feel like putting on makeup, or holding a smile for 45 mins while your picture gets taken. These pictures are great because they allow you to humble-brag about where you are and what you’re doing.

An expert tip for spring? Stand facing the sea, a lake or waterfall and sport a big hat. Yes, gents, that means you too. Big hats aren’t only a hot fashion accessory, they also provide protection on those beautiful sunny spring days.

3)      The Hold Out

Make your cocktails, ice creams and even your personal care products look Insta-worthy with the fabulous Hold-Out snapshot. This picture doesn’t require much, except for a steady hand, determination and of course, cool subject matter.

All you need to do is find a complimentary background, hold up your subject matter out in front of the camera and take a picture of your hand holding whatever it is you’re taking a picture of. Easy, right?

Our expert advice? Find fun and interesting background settings for your pictures, but just make sure your subject matter and background don’t clash.

Subject matter ideas include desserts, cocktails, flowers, perfume or aftershave bottles, balloons, sparklers and pretty much anything that’s going to make your friends a little green with envy.

It’s no secret people spend a lot of time and effort trying to snap the perfect picture. We just want to remind you that finding beauty in the imperfect,is just as rewarding as getting the perfect Instagram shot.

Nowadays, you don’t even need to travel far from home to take a picture worth posting. Why not sit down for one of our divine cappuccinos at our #Café and document the occasion? If you’re really wanting to travel and have your heart set on an African adventure, why not book a stay at Fairview Hotel Limited in Kenya and try out some macro photography in our gorgeous gardens.
