When City Lodgers Ryan Ruthven and Henri Joubert are not in the office, you might find them out on their mountain bikes training for the gruelling joBerg2c event that takes place from April 25 to May 3, starting at Heidelburg in Gauteng and finishing at Scottburgh on the KZN south coast.
Ruthven heads up the group’s IT department, and Joubert is the group’s international business development manager.
While the City Lodge Hotel Group is sponsoring their participation in the race, the two riders are also independently raising money which will be donated towards the Nelson Mandela Day Library Campaign (part of the Bangles programme) which transforms old shipping containers into well-stocked libraries for needy school children around the country. “We’re hoping to raise R50,000 from friends, family and associates which will go a long way towards financing and stocking a container library,” said Ruthven and Joubert, who are both looking forward to their extreme adventure. The cyclists will be sharing regular tweets along the route – follow their progress @CityLodgeHotels.
